Gratitude

I am grateful for ....

Ever find yourself waking up on the wrong side of the bed and nothing in the day seems to be going right? Our thoughts have a lot to do with it.

Neuroplasticity teaches us that our brain's pathways are influenced by our thoughts and actions.

If we focus on the negatives and hold onto those thoughts our brain maintains those pathways and so this becomes our go-to. Thinking this way too much can lead to poorer health, both physically and mentally, and can shorten our lifespans. There is hope! Our brain is capable of making new pathways. It just takes consistency in practice.

Gratitude is a step you can take to helping your brain build more positive pathways and have your go-to be one that has you feeling happier and healthier.

Gratitude doesn't have to be time consuming either. You can find time to be grateful while you wait for the computer to login, while you brush your teeth or make your coffee in the morning. Let moments like these be a reminder to pause and think about what you appreciate in your life right now. Even if it's seems simple or silly, it doesn't have to be a big gesture, being thankful for the roof over your head can be enough.
